[Monday Motivation] Are you stronger than yesterday?

Stronger Than YesterdayIt’s the first Monday of September, only 4 months to go in 2018 and yet it feels like there is so much to do; so much I want to accomplish. How about you? Looking forward can you see what’s possible?

Today is the day of the year where we are supposed to rest. It’s Labor Day in the US and Canada. According to the US Department of Labor, this day “constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”

As a creative business owner and entrepreneur, do you ever pause to really consider the contributions you are making or want to be making?

I think about my contribution quite a bit. My desire to make a bigger contribution in the world keeps me going, even when the going gets rough.

My success and my freedom as a woman business owner flow from so many women who paved the way. I am grateful especially to the women who stood up and said, “I want a seat at the table.” Who started the conversation, who asked for equal pay. There is still work to be done but I am stronger than yesterday because of these women.

Being a mom, wife, daughter and sister are just some of the roles I play along with business owner and volunteer, Meetup leader and artist… People rely on me. And it’s hard. Hard to hold space, to always be positive, to be the leader, the shoulder to cry on, and still have to cook dinner. Hard to ask for support and lean on others.

Brad and I were walking on the beach recently. Sharing, planning, grieving. Tears were shed. An embrace shared. Our parents are aging, kids are growing up. Our family role is changing, too. In two short years we will be empty nesters. Sigh. What then? A few years beyond that, we will be the elder generation in our family. Gulp.

And yet, I am stronger than yesterday.

I am more committed than ever to living my best life and helping as many creative business owners as I can to do the same.

Are you conscious of the many roles that you are playing in your life and work?

Are their roles you would love to let go of? Or roles that you are neglecting?

There were times when my kids and my marriage and my business were all young and I lost my way. I lost sight of what mattered most and why I started my business in the first place. I doubted myself. Through several wonderful life coaching experiences, I found my way and my why.

Do you feel stronger than yesterday?

Try starting your week with a celebration of who you are and what your contribution is to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of your country, your family, your work. From this place of strength and celebration create your weekly to-do list. What are you willing to do differently this week to grow your business?

Together we are stronger,
Minette

P.S. If you are struggling to find balance among the many roles you play and are feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed, reach out and ask for help. I see your strength but it will only get you so far. I have 3 spots open this week for Creative Leadership Breakthrough sessions. This session is for you if you are ready to step into leadership in your life and business. You cannot do this alone. If you want to stay a business of one, this is not the support you are looking for. If you are just looking for some free advice, this is not for you. This session is for you if you are committed to investing in yourself and in your business. You are willing to do the inner work and the organizational work to grow. And most importantly, you know you have a contribution to make and need a plan to go big. If this feels right for you, apply now: http://minette.pages.ontraport.net/BreakthroughSession
