[Monday Motivation] Do you remember this song by Patty Smyth? 1

warriorDo you remember the song “I am a warrior” by Patty Smyth? She was a popular punk rock and New Wave artist in the 70’s and 80’s. Here is a YouTube video of the song and the lyrics if you are curious, pretty hilarious now but she was quite popular when I was in high school and university: https://youtu.be/47y5bo8wtqM

This song popped into my head as I was thinking about you and what I wanted to share today. While this is a love song, I think the lyrics apply to who we are being as leaders in our business.

Here’s the chorus:

Shooting at the walls of heartache
Bang, bang!
I am the warrior
Well I am the warrior
And heart to heart you’ll win
If you survive the warrior, the warrior
I am the warrior

Business can bring us heartache but also victory, success and joy. For me that joy flows from showing up in service to our community of creative business owners. Victory comes from seeing your successes as well as my own.

Last week I talked about strength and celebrating that yes, we are stronger today than yesterday.

I want to continue that conversation with you today.

I want you to think about the “warriors” in your life who have inspired you to take action, to work for what you want, to overcome your fear and challenge yourself. Come join us on Facebook and share your favorite Warrior – fictional or real.

What would it take for you to see yourself as a warrior?

First let me define how I am using the word “warrior” in this business context.

Think of the Warrior Archetype. We all have the ability to step into the Warrior role and to take on some of the characteristics of this powerful archetype, especially in our business.

As the Warrior, you have courage, tenacity and perseverance. You are loyal to the causes and people that matter to you. You set and meet goals, for you are mission driven. There is a pride in meeting challenges, and when Warrior meets obstacles you try harder. You are a crusader and fighter, especially in service to your calling.

Here is a SoulCollage® card I created that represents the Warrior archetype to me. I love the character of Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Game Series. In this card I see the warrior I want to be – strong, determined and willing to fight for my beliefs.

Most of you are in business to be of service. You know your gifts and talents will make a difference in the world. Your mission is powerful and it’s scary. It requires strength, it requires visibility, it requires the willingness to fall flat, to fail, to be judged. Your business will ask everything of you and more.

As the Warrior, you are up for the challenge.

What one trait of the Warrior Archetype would support you on your business building journey? Hit reply and let me know.

Creatively yours,
Minette

P.S. Come join the discussion about the Warrior Archetype in our Facebook group. I will also share how the Warrior archetype can help you improve productivity and how to connect the energy of the Warrior to your Unique Productivity Style. I’ve got some juicy content around this to share, so don’t miss out. See you there!
