[Monday Motivation] Eliminate Overwhelm with This One Practice


WhyHow are you feeling on this bright Monday? Full of possibility and anticipation for the fun week ahead?

Or overwhelmed, bogged down and buried under unfinished projects?

Overwhelm is the number 1 complaint we hear from our community and our clients, over and over again.

What’s the antidote to overwhelm? CLARITY!

Today’s mantra is: When the why is clear, the how is easy.

Many business owners get too caught up in the how before focusing on the why.

It is so easy to be overwhelmed by all the ways you could build your business or attract new clients. And when you are new to business, it can be challenging to know where to start. Plus, everyone is telling you: if you just do this one thing… those one things add up exponentially.

I personally am learning to take a thoughtful pause before adding anything new to an already full plate.

At the Path to Profit Academy, we define productivity as:

  1. Doing more of the RIGHT things, not doing all the things.
  2. Letting go of what isn’t serving you.
  3. Creating high quality products/services that you love.

Brad and I have been practicing some pretty ruthless letting go of projects and ideas this year and instead prioritizing what we want more of. It’s been a challenge. As a creative I want to do it all, I love all the things and I can see the potential. I can see why it would be helpful. That doesn’t mean it will be useful or important now.

How do you decide what to do next?

When you sit down to do your weekly planning and want to take on a new task or activity like “Facebook advertising,” “Launch an online course” or “Start a blog” ask yourself these three questions:

  1. Why is this important at this stage of my business?
  2. Why am I excited about …. ?
  3. What is the result I want from this …..?

Get crystal clear about the impact, amount of time and potential reward you want from adding something new to your business before making a decision.
